Soviet presence in the Pacific

Sir,—ln a recent speech the Minister of Justice, Mr McLay, spoke of the growing Soviet threat in the Pacific. He also spoke strongly in support of the A.N.Z.U.S. alliance. the western alliance and lay ourselves open to increasing Soviet influence and possible eventual take-over. We must accept the obligation and responsibilities that go with freedom or we will lose that freedom.—Yours, etc., E. F. SPENCER. February 26, 1984.
