What about vehicle performance? The difference in vehicle performance between LPG and petrol use is slight. LPG has an octane rating of about 105 compared with petrol at 96 octane. With a correctly installed and tuned conversion, the performance obtained from LPG is almost equal to that of petrol. Are there any incentives for me to convert my vehicle to LPG? The Government has available a conversion loan scheme, which will enable approved applicants to convert their vehicle with no capital outlay, at attractive interest rates. Enquiries should be made at any installer or trading bank. Q How long does it take to fit? A Usually you will need to allow a day or two to have the LPG system fitted.
