Imran unavailable
NZPA-AAP Perth Pakistan’s cricket captain, Imran Khan, has made himself unavailable for the three-test series against England in Pakistan next month because a stress fracture in his left shin has not fully recovered. “Since I cannot bowl, my selection in the Pakistan team will not be automatic,” said Imran yesterday. “So instead of going through the same thing that
happened when I came here, I would much rather step down and wait until I am fully fit and can do my best for Pakistan again.” His decision comes in the closing days of Pakistan’s disastrous tour of Australia in which it did not win a test.
It also means that the former test captain, Javed Miandad, who was deposed in a player revolt after the 1981-82 test series, is likely to lead Pakistan.
