Chapple Cup win to Nelson
PA Nelson Nelson took 23 points when it won its Chapple Cup match against Manawatu by six wickets at Trafalgar Park, Nelson, on Saturday. Manawatu, 59 behind on the first innings, was all out for 171 in its second innings, Jim Hooper top-scoring with 42. Steve Gill took three wickets to add to his five in Manawatu's first innings, and finished with figures of eight for 83. He was helped by the spinner, Gary Walton, who took six for 128 in the match. Needing 115 runs to win. Nelson achieved that for the loss of four wickets. John Smith was 44 not out when Steve Gill hit a six and a four to give Nelson the match. Short scores.— Manawatu 153 (C.
