Bracewell vital to Auckland win

The Auckland off-spinner, John Bracewell, dominated the Wellington second innings and played a big part in Auckland winning its Shell Trophy cricket match by nine wickets at Eden Park on Saturday. Bracewell, aged 25, took five wickets for 78 and held three fine catches in a compelling display. Wellington, in trouble overnight, lost wickets regularly although Robert Vance completed his second half-century and useful contributions came from Jeremy Coney, Ervin McSweeney and Steve Maguiness. When Wellington was dismissed for 209, Auckland was left to score 129 in about 170 minutes. Peter Webb hit a quick 30 and his was the only wicket lost as Trevor Franklin and John Reid scored freely.
