Death sentence
NZPA-AFP Beirut Two Lebanese found guilty of killing the daughter of the late President Bashir Gemayel in a bombing aimed at her father were sentenced to death yesterday, the Lebanese news agency reported. Nazih Shaya and Joseph Kazazian were found guilty of “premeditated terrorist acts” in the February 23, 1980, bombing of Mr
Gemayel’s car that killed his daughter, Maya. A third person, Milad Mussa, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Mr Gemayel was leader of the United Christian Militias at the time and was elected president in August, 1982. He was killed in another bombing in September of the same year and was succeeded by his brother, Amin.
