Guests of China
PA Wellington A Labour Party delegation would visit China as guests of the Chinese Government, probably in May or June next year, said the party president, Mr J. P. Anderton, yesterday. The Chinese people had always had a warm regard for the Labour Party, because it was a New Zealand
Labour government which first recognised the Chinese republic in 1972, he said. “They have not forgotten that.”
The size of the delegation had not been specified, Mr Anderton said. He laughed off a suggestion, by a reporter, that next year’s Labour Party conference might be held in Peking.
