Man injured in Kaituna crash
A man suffered serious head and leg injuries when his car hit the Kaituna Valley bridge on the Akaroa highway yesterday morning. Philip Reeve Humphrey, aged 22, of Springfield Road, was admitted to Christchurch Hospital’s intensive care unit The accident occurred at 7.50 a.m. Mr Humphrey was on the seriously ill list late last evening. A boy aged nine was also on the "seriously ill list last evening after being hit by a car when he was riding his bicycle in Halswell yesterday afternoon. Phillip Griffiths, of Orania Crescent, was being
treated for head injuries and a broken leg. Christchurch firemen used the jaws of life to cut two people out of their vehicles which crashed in Tuam Street early yesterday. Firemen took 40 minutes to cut a person out of a car which rolled over on the comer of Tuam Street and England Street at 12.27 a.m. At 5.48 ajn., they took 20 minutes to cut a person out of a truck which hit a pole on Tuam Street, near Clothier Street. Neither person suffered serious injuries, said a spokesman for the St John Ambulance.
