N.Z. helmsmen third
PA Auckland Rex Sellers and Rex Sly, of New Zealand, have finished third in the United States Tornado yachting championships. The championship was won by the world titleholder, Randy Smythe, with 24.7 points in the seven-race series. The New Zealanders finished with placings of 6,2, 8,
4,6, 3 for 48.6 points. They were involved in a collision in race four and were awarded average points for the race. The other New Zealand Tornado crew of Brian Peet and Chris Timms finished seventh after winning the final race. Their 75 points comprised placings of 11, 9, 13, 14, 5,8, 1. There were 45 boats in the series.
