Jetbets of interest at Addington tomorrow

, The main interest surrounding the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington Raceway tomorrow will be the use of on-course jetbets for the first time on a South Island course.

Many of the 10 races are open affairs which should involve widespread betting. Some healthy trifectas (taking the first three placegetters in the correct order) are likely to be posted. Rapaki Lass, which was out of luck on the NelsonBlenheim circuit, but still managed a second and a fourth, may be rewarded in the first leg of the T.A.B. double and second leg of the T.A.B. treble, the Kowhai Stakes. A member of lan Cameron’s in-form Rangiora team, Rapaki Lass was beaten a length by Randall over 2400 m on the second day at Nelson and came fast late for fourth to Roydon Magic, Braedoon and Castle Del, on the second day at Marlborough after being in the rear on the home turn. In an open line-up, there is also likely to be strong support for Wiki Wiki, the winner of two of his last three starts, Castle Del, Bahrein, a capable frontrunner, Roydon Magic, Touch of Class and Formal Fella. Miss Bromac, the talented Ashburton mare, appears well placed to beat the four-year-olds in the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Konini Stakes. A winner twice on the course, Miss Bromac has looked close to her best with a third to Randall and Rapaki Lass at Nelson two starts back, and stormed home to beat all but Quadwin at the Ashburton Queen’s Birthday meeting. Joy Boy, to be driven by Derek Jones, is another which has looked on the verge of winning form lately. He was runner-up to Watbro Mist at Ashburton three starts back and was cut back to third in a head and a nose finish behind Fonzarelli and Faberge over 3200 m on the first day at Nelson.

Andrew James, an impressive trials winner on Wednesday, Shah, and Lady Leeway, are others with strong form claims.
