Nostalgic dance
People who attend an oldtime dance at Hagley High School on May 20 may be forgiven if they think they are at one of the original “two-bob hops” popular in Christchurch in the 19505. Members of the original band that played at the Rendezvous and Latimer dances held each week and the original caterer, doorman, master of ceremonies, and photographer will all be at. the dance. -The dance organiser, Mr
Fred Lowther, said the dance would be a repeat of the dances held in the 1950 s and 19605. A similar dance last year was attended by almost 300 people and the organisers had moved to Hagley High School this year to accommodate more patrons, he said. “We hope to capture the atmosphere of the old dances. It is a chance for people to indulge in a little nostalgia,” he said.
