Army man on visit
The director-general of the Australian Army Health Services, Major-General W. B. James, is visiting Burnham Military Camp this week-end. His visit coincides with the seventy-fifth anniversary of the formation of the Royal New Zealand Army Medical Corps. General James was awarded the Military Cross while serving as a platoon commander in Korea in 1952. Both his feet were
blown off during the Korean War. In 1966, he became a medical officer at the Royal Military College, Duntroon. He served in the Australian Army’s medical corps in Vietnam as a senior medical officer. In 1969, he was awarded the M.B.E. and in 1971 was part of the St John relief team in Biafra and Nigeria. General James was promoted to his present post last year.
