N.Z. man bashed to death
NZPA Sydney A New Zealander, Patrick McNally, who had a long list of criminal convictions, has been found bashed to death in the Kings Cross city suburb. The police said that it was a gangland-style killing, and that Mr McNally, aged 39, had survived an attempt on his life in 1979 when he was shot three times. His body was found in the car-park of a block of flats at Kings Cross on Thursday afternoon.
Mr McNally’s face and hands had been badly battered. The police believe his body had been taken to the flats in the boot of a car and dumped there. He had been dead for at least 24 hours.
Mr McNally had at least 30 convictions, mainly for assault, and had been charged in 1979 with having stolen the Melbourne Cup while it was on display at a Sydney bank. '
