All cars better
Britain’s Consumers’ Association has surveyed 20.000 motorists and reached the conclusion that Japanese cars continue to be the best bet for motorists wanting a trouble-free drive. But it also says that the world’s carmakers are putting out a more reliable product than they were five years ago. Of 49 models examined for the risk of breaking down in a year of motoring, seven Japanese cars came out in the top 11. In terms of faulty components. the best six were from
Japan, and the story was much the same for the survey of cars least likely to have persistent mechanical problems: six of the top seven were Japanese. The association concluded that the four most reliable cars were the Datsun Sunny, Honda Accord, Datsun Bluebird. and the West German.’ Audi 80. j The least reliable were all i British or European — the' Ford Cortina, the Fiat Mira-1 fiori. the Lada, the Citreon; CX, the Lancia and the I Alfasud. i
