E.E.C. rules more pliant?

PA. Wellington The Common Market has altered the meat hygiene regulations which could have affected New Zealand exports. according to the Ministry of Agriculture's Meat Division director, Mr Alan Royal. New regulations were agreed at last week’s E.E.C. Agriculture Council meeting, he said. The E.E.C.'s old hygiene standards were inflexible and New Zealand had argued that its standards, although different, were equivalent. Mr Royal said that he had not seen the text of the new regulations, but “on the face of it. it appears to have catered for quite a few of our' concerns."
