Engineering firms will get no aid
No special attention was needed to keep two big Christchurch heavy-engineer-ing firms in work according to the Prime Minister. Mr Muldoon.
He was replying to a letter from the member of Parliament for Yaldhurst, Mr M. A. Connelly, asking for new works to help C.W.F. Hamilton and Company, Ltd, and Andersons Engineering, Ltd. continue in business through mid-1983. Mr Muldoon said that firms servicing the construction industry had to adjust to slower development, but new private-sector and publicsector works were being programmed which should keep enterprising firms viable.
No further action was needed except to avoid delays in calling tenders for approved Government works.
