Surprise election defeat
PA Auckland Mr Harry Dods. the former secretary of the Auckland Football Association and a driving force behind the World Cup campaign. was surprisingly beaten yesterday in a ballot for one of six elected members on the New Zealand Football Association council. Obviously shaken by the move, which ended many
years of association with the game. Mr Dods said later he did not know what he would do now. The association made a presentation to' Ken Armstrong to mark his long service to soccer. At a brief council meeting after the annual meeting, Mr Charlie Dempsey was reelected chairman and Warwick Gendall his deputy.
