Aramoana in reserve
PA Wellington The 20-year-old Aramoana would be maintained by a “skeleton" crew of ratings and officers when she was withdrawn from the Cook Strait ferry service on March 9, and laid up at a berth in Wellington, said the Railways air-sea services manager, Mr Brian Lundy yesterday. She could return to service should freight warrant, but it was expected that the Aratika and Aranui would cope with passengers and freight, he said.
