Police find cannabis patch
Christchurch drug squad detectives and the Ashburton police, acting on a tip, used a helicopter on Wednesday to find and destroy 400 cannabis plants. Some of the plants were more than 4m high. Detective Senior-Sergeant M. J. Muddiman; head of the Christchurch drug squad, said the plants were in an area inaccessible to vehicles. No-one had been apprehended but the Ashburton police were continuing investigations into the matter. All the plants were dug up and burned.
