Air N.Z. fares
Sir,—l thank Mr V. J. Mitchell of Air New Zealand for his reply to my query on Air New Zealand fares when I posed the question. “Why is Air New Zealand using New Zealanders’ money to sponsor their tourist traffic?" In effect, his reply agrees that, yes, New Zealanders are sponsoring Air New Zealand's tourist traffic, but that there comes a time of year when the situation is reversed. Surely it would encourage more all the year round air travel if the fare in question were to be averaged out at say SNZI963, thereby eliminating Air New Zealand's confusing current modus operand! of “roundabouts and swings”?—Yours, etc., DAVID BATH. February 8, 1983.
