Lancaster Park scoreboard
Sir,—l refer to the letters from G. H. Turner (January 14), and D.. J. Butler (January 17) regarding the condition of the scoreboard at Lancaster Park. It is of concern to the board that both correspondents state that the scoreboard has not been painted for years. Before the start of the current cricket season the scoreboard, including all wording, was completely repainted. The numbers on the rollers were replaced the previous season. If your two correspondents have been to the park during the current cricket season I am surprised that they did not notice the repainting as many favourable comments were received regarding its appearance. The board has appointed a development sub-committee to investigate future developments at Lancaster Park and their brief includes possible replacement of the scoreboard. The comments of C. H. Turner regarding shadows on the scoreboard because of its present siting have been referred to the sub-committee for consideration. — Yours, etc., D. L. GALLOP, Chairman. Victory Park Board. February 9, 1983.
