U.S. composer’s visit
PA Wellington An internationally known teacher and composer will spend five months lecturing at New Zealand Universities this year. Professor Lou Harrison, professor of music at Mills College in Oakland, California, will lecture at the universities of Auckland, Victoria. Canterbury, and Otago, beginning in June. Professor Harrison has a 1983 Fulbright grant,
awarded by the New Zea-land-United States Educational Foundation to research scholars, lecturers, and graduate students to pursue their specialist fields. Professor Harrison is an authority on both sixteenth century European and Asian music. In the last 10 years he has composed one big work a year, with performances in the United States, Denmark, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.
