PA Hamilton □Charges of presenting a rifle at a policeman and assaulting him were laid against a Ngaruawahia man when he appeared in the District Court at Hamilton qri Saturday. •*The charges were included itr seven laid against Robert Thomas Taiatini, aged 28. unemployed, as a result of an incident in Ngaruawahia, on Friday evening. »31r E. L. Brokenshire. J.P., demanded Taiatini in custody without plea until 4<y-..-Taiatini asked that he be Remanded to Tokanui Hospital, but the Bench said that drat could be decided today. “•The other charges were
possession of a .303 rifle without a permit; carrying the weapon without lawful,
proper, or sufficient purpose; threatening to do grevious bodily harm to another person; and two of assault.
The Wanganui police arrested and charged a man for wounding a Porirua man in Wanganui on Thursday night. Inquiries into the incident, in which Owen Brider, of Porirua, was stabbed in the face, neck, and arm were continuing, a . Wanganui police spokesman said yesterday. : Mr Brider was admitted to Wanganui Base Hospital and yesterday was reported to be in a satisfactory condition.
