Export seminars plan in N.Z.
PA Wellington Export marketing seminars are being organised by the Trade and Industry Department to help manufacturers get the most out of the closer economic relationship with Australia.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Templeton, said that his department was organising a special series of marketing seminars which would begin in Hamilton in April.
Seminars were also scheduled for Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, he said in a statement.
Trade Commissioners from Australian posts would give the seminars first-hand accounts of trade and conditions, and provide an assessment of growth potential for New Zealand exporters to Australia.
Mr Templeton said that the possibility of creating a new trade post in Adelaide and strengthening posts in other Australian main centres was being considered. The Government was also
considering sponsoring more visits by Australian buyers, more trade missions from Australia, and more visits to Australia, by New Zealand export opportunity teams. Mr Templeton said that it was obvious that industry was generally well aware of the need to face up to the opportunities of the C.E.R.
However, the Government wanted to accelerate the momentum already built up. “In these times nothing short of excellence will do,” he said.
The Trade and Industry Department had already deployed staff to provide extra assistance and advice on the Australian market. More trade publicity was being given to New Zealand products and participation in trade fairs was being stepped up.
