Addington crossing plan
Financial and technical approval for the design of traffic signals at a controversial Brougham Street expressway intersection will be sought from the Ministry of Works and Development. The Christchurch City Council's works and traffic committee has considered a plan for signals and pedestrian crossings at the expressway intersection with Simeon Street and Collins Street.
Neighbourhood residents had objected to an earlier plan to close the median strip at the intersection and allow only pedestrians and cyclists to cross the expressway. Reports of traffic, pedestrian. and delay studies at the intersection have been forwarded to the Ministry. The Addington Neighbourhood Group has indicated that the intersection plan is a suitable compromise.
