Dole queue down 506
PA Wellington A total of 33,888 people were being paid unemployment benefits on November 12, down 506 from the 34,394 receiving the dole a fortnight before, .said the Social Welfare Department yesterday. The figures did not account for people who might be registered as unemployed without receiving the dole, or people on special work schemes. Those figures were given monthly by the Labour Department. On November 12, there were 22,493 males and 11,395 females receiving the unemployment benefit, of whom 10,144 were aged, under 20. In the week to that date, 1704 applications were received for emergency unemployment benefit from full-time tertiary students and seventh-form pupils. On November 12 there Were 251 such benefits being paid.
