Handicapper guest speaker
PA Wellington Mr Jim Bowler, the man who frames the handicaps for the Melbourne Cup, will be the guest speaker at the dinner to honour the Wrightson Bloodstock Horse of the Year award next month..
Mr Bowler, the V.R.C. handicapper, turned up trumps in this year’s Melbourne Cup when Gurner’s Lane, rehandicapped 3kg for a Caulfield Cup win, just beat Kingston Town, considered by his trainer, Tom Smith, to be in too light, in a thrilling finish.
