Fans combat curse

NZPA London Fans of English first division soccer club Birmingham City believe their team, currently languishing at the foot of the table, are under a gypsy curse. ’ So' according to the “Daily Star," the fans have clubbed together and sent four wooden crosses to their team’s manager to break the curse. The manager, Ron Saunders. said that the 45cm tall crosses would be put up at Birmingham's St Andrews ground. “I'm not drawing any conclusions, but there has been a

lot of publicity about the socalled curse sb I decided we should do something about it." Mr Saunders said. “And we certainly could do with a change of luck. We haven't had a win in five games and injuries are piling up." Mr Saunders said that the crosses had been offered by fans: “We decided to bring the whole thing out into the open by putting them up at the ground." he said. Local legend has it that Birmingham was cursed by a gang of gypsies who camped at St Andrews many years ago.
