Auction to buy new van
A "monster auction” organised by the Y.W.C.A. and Radio Avon will be held at the Horticultural Hall on October 30.
‘ The auction is to raise funds for a new van which the Y.W.C.A. will use for carrying' children and equipment during its community activities. The executive director of the Y.W.C.A., Mrs Anne Evans, said that it had had a huge response from about 200 business houses in Christchurch which gave a range of goods from refrigerators
to clothing, all new. It was hoped to raise about $BOOO from the auction, said Mrs Evans.
