Govt to help school hit by blaze
PA New Plymouth The Minister of Education, Mr Wellington, has pledged full Government support for the fire-ravaged Opunake High School. He has visited the school, accompanied by about 15 representatives from the Egmont County Council, Taranaki Education Board and the Opunake Home and School Association, to see the $3 million worth of damage caused by the recent fire. “They are not up there in Opunake on their own. The Government shares its loss and will do, as I have said, what it can do to help," he said. Mr Wellington said that he would make sure any delay in construction of new buildings was kept to a minimum.
