Trampoline titles go north
Nigel Humphreys (Auckland) won the men's over-all title and Paula Ashbridge (Auckland) the women's over-all title when the New Zealand trampoline championships ended at the Christ's College Hall, yesterday afternoon. Humphreys won the men’s elite trampoline and double mini trampoline titles, and was third in the synchronised trampoline, with John Docherty of Auckland. Miss Ashbridge won the elite women's trampoline title and the synchronised event with her teammate, Nicola Walker. Auckland dominated the trampoline events yesterday, winning eight of the 10 titles decided. The other two were won by Cantabrians. Janelie Kerr beat two New Zealand representatives to win the women’s grade two trampoline title, and two grade one youths, Stephen Faoagali and Kirk Robinson, won the elite synchronised title, beating more experienced rivals. Vaughan Anderson (Nelson) and Alan Kerr (Canterbury) were the last pair in the synchronised trampoline and virtually only had to complete the exercise to win. Unfortunately, Anderson miscued a manoeuvre midway through the exercise and their title hopes disintegrated. Humphreys and Docherty were eased into third place in the synchronised trampo-
line by another young pair, Darryl Ogilvie and Dean Waller. Earlier, Humphreys had comfortably won the elite men’s trampoline title with 50.8 points. Anderson edged Kerr into second place.
