Student jobs

Sir,—Replying to your correspondent S. M. Ross and others: there is an old proverb, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way ..If they want degrees, let them work to get them. And in case the Students’ Health Service has not made this point, hard physical work is excellent therapy for students who have been swotting for the greater part of the year. They

should remember too, that the taxpayers are not milionaires brought into this world to finance their higher education. Instead of bleating about the inadequacies of the bursaries, they should count their blessings. If they were Americans, the only help they’d get (apart from scholarships) would be interest-free loans repayable on graduation.—Yours, etc..

S. L. DONALDSON October 23. 1982.
