Conservation citation
PA Wellington The founder of Conservation Week. Mr Selwyn Field, of Paraparaumu, has been presented with a Conservation Citation for his years of organisation and support of conservation in New Zealand.
The Acting Minister of Lands, Mr Young, presented the award on behalf of the Nature Conservation Council. Mr Field’s first activities in the conservation sphere began in the early 1960 s when he launched a national conservation programme for scouts. This was later extended at a New Zealand scout jamboree in 1969. where 4000 scouts worked for a conservation badge.
