Nandi no match for Counties
PA Auckland In its last game of the 1982 season, a Counties 15 made short work of the Fijian club side. Nandi, winning 32-9, at Pukekohe. Twenty-two of Counties' points came in the first half when it was fresh and full of running, but against a relatively weak opposition it soon dropped down to Nandi's level and could only manage two tries in the second spell. Several of the younger players in the Counties line-
up seized the opportunity to cement claims for a permanent spot next year. Brian Breen, at second "five-eighths, and Stephen Karpik, at fullback. had good games and the regular wing. Tony Welsh, was also in form. His two tries showed he is still fit and keen for work. Scorers: Counties (Allan Dawson 2. Tony Welsh 2. Ivan Waterson. Brian Breen tries; Stephen Karpik 4 conversions).
