Fiji loses again
NZPA-Reuter Cambridge Fiji's disappointing rugby union tour continued when it slumped 30-12 to Cambridge University on Saturday. The Fijians have now lost all eight tour matches and have only two games left, including next Saturday's international against England at Twickenham, in which to end their losing sequence.
Cambridge, which led 15-9 at half time, won with four goals and two penaltygoals to a goal and two penalties. ( The tourists were outscrummaged from the start and such was their increasing despondency that they were fortunate to finish with a full complement after being severely lectured by the referee. ’ Mr Corries Thomas, for careless use of fist and boot. start when Paul Lillington scored a try after five minutes. It was converted by Nick Chesworth. who swiftly added a penalty. Koroduadua landed a longrange penalty and then converted w r hen the substitute. Naikidi. scored in first-half injury time. But within seconds Cambridge hit back when Gerry Macklin went over and Chesworth converted. Cambridge steadily increased its lead in the second, half with tries from Tim O’Brien and Tim PattersonBrown. which were both converted by Chesworth, who also kicked a penalty. Koroduadua scored a consolation penalty for a ragged-looking Fijian side, which wasted a good deal of possession with poor passing and handling. The Fijians have now conceded 241 points on the tour.
