Workers’ rally planned
A mass rally of Canterbury workers will be held soon to show the Government the workers’ opposition to "reduced living standards."
The vice-president of the Canterbury Trades Council, Mr P. E. Piesse, said that the proposed rally was in line with the Federation of Labour campaign against the cuts. The council would be urging unions to ensure a big turn-out for the rally, and other groups such as the unemployed and beneficiaries would be invited to take part. The venue and date of the rally have yet to be decided.
