Rifle threat alleged
PA Napier A Wairoa youth, aged 16. alleged to have held a man and his two infant children at gunpoint for 70 minutes on Thursday, appeared in the Children and Young Persons Court at Napier on Friday afternoon.
The youth appeared before Judge Sheehan on charges that he presented a cut down .22 calibre rifle at Peter John Conn, used a firearm with intent to avoid arrest, and unlawfully took a motorcycle worth $3OOO. He was remanded in custody and without plea to today.
The charges resulted from an incident in winch the armed offenders squad was called out in Napier and a house in Carlyle Street cordoned and surrounded.
