Cricket sponsor secured
The New Zealand Women’s Cricket Council has secured a sponsor for its national tournament for the next five years. The announcement that Hansells will sponsor the tournament was made at the council's annual meeting in Wellington at the week-end. The Hallyburton Johnstone Shield will be replaced by the Hansells Cup. The tournament next season will be in Dunedin from December 27 to January 6. The amount of the sponsorship was not disclosed. Assistance with the under-25 series between Australia and New Zealand in January-Febru-arv next year will also be pro-
vided by Hansells. The series involves two internationals between the under 25 teams of both countries. The itinerary for the Australian under-25 team’s tour is: January 22-23: v. Northern Invitation XI at Auckland. January 25-26: v. Central Districts Invitation XI at New Plymouth. January 29-31: v. New Zealand under25’at Palmerston North. February 2-3: v. Wellington Invitation XI at Wellington. February 5-6: v. South Island Invitation XI at Christchurch. February 7-8: v. Canterbury at Christchurch. February 1-12: v. New Zealand under-25 at Christchurch.
