Jet boat rally sprint
The success of the Canterbury branch jet boat rally sprint earlier this year has prompted the branch to hold a similar event on the lower reaches of the Waimakariri River on September 19. Television New Zealand will record the action and an hour-long programme is planned on the series. Attractive prize money will be offered through the sponsor-
ship of the Superliquorman group. The New Zealand jet boat marathon ends the day before the sprint series and competitors in that event will be invited to compete. As many as 60 boats are likely to enter and there will probably be the need for elimination laps against the clock to reduce the field for the sprint series to 32.
