Proctor’s fine debut
PA Wellington Auckland’s new second five-eighths, Mike Proctor, had a dream debut when his side beat Bay of Plenty, 12-6, in a national championship rugby match at Whakatane yesterday./' ' Proctor scored the opening try after only five minutes and Grant Fox converted it.
The Bay’s first-five-eighths, Ron Preston, responded with a penalty to make it 6-3 to Auckland at half-time. Preston goaled again in the second half. Auckland’s winning points came eight minutes from the end when a defensive error by the Bay backs allowed John Collinson in to score, and Fox again converted.
