Taranaki’s game
PA Paeroa A burst of scoring at the end of the first half and at the start of the second gave Taranaki a 25-13 win against Thames Valley in a secind division national championship rugby match yesterday. It was an opening win for Taranaki in the championship, but for Thames the third loss in a row. Taranaki's All Blacks, the
captain, Graham Mourie, and Dave Loveridge, did not take the field. Both reported suffering from knocks received in the test at Christchurch. Scorers—Taranaki: Maurice Jones (2), Bryce Robins and Jeff Bishop, tries, Kieran Crowley 3 conversions and penalty; Thames Valley: Mark Darrah and Ross O’Hallahan, tries, Mike Kater conversion and penalty.
