PA Masterton Wairarapa Bush looked a winner at Memorial Park. Masterton. yesterday, but the national first division championship rugby leader. Counties, escaped with a 12-11 win Leading 9-7 at half-time. Counties’ fluent backline and robust forward pack were superior early on. but it was •the combined union which got on top. The Wairarapa Bush winger, Gregg Karaitiana, the man of the match, was full of “electricity” throughout. clearly outplaying his counterpart, the former All
Black. Robert Kururangi. Karaitiana further enhanced his prospects for a trip with the New Zealand Maoris to Wales later this year when he scored a second try near the corner soon into the second half. Counties’ . star, Bruce Robertson, came off injured after only five minutes, and in his absence, Graham Taylor looked the pick of the visiting backs.
