N. Canterbury gains Munroe Shield

In a representative colts game Ellesmere lost the Munroe Shield when it was beaten, 12-11. by North Canterbury in a solid forward.game, also marked by the hard tackling of both sets of backs, at Southbridge. North Canterbury won dramatically in the final minute with a try to its first five-eighths. M. Brown. Brown picked up the ball when it came loose from the Ellesmere scrum, scored wide out. and then converted his own try. The. Ellesmere forewards drove well from scrums and lineouts with Andrew Lambie. Paul Johnson, and John Jepson standing out. John Mounce and Alan Palmer, the Bankers, chased hard.
