Marine honoured
■ A young Rbyal Marine officer who led his tiny platoon into battle as the Argentinans invaded South Georgia has been awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. Acting Lieutenant Keith Mills is one of five men to get medals for heroism in the fight for the South Atlantic island and six others are mentioned in despatches. Soweto bombs
Black commuter travel into Johannesburg was disrupted after explosions wrecked two pylons carrying overhead railway power lines in the satellite city of Soweto. Extra buses were laid on to help bring workers into Johannesburg, about 20km from. Soweto. The Soweto blasts follow a series of six explosions which rocked the northern Natal town of Paulpietersburg, damaging a fuel depot and railway installations. — Johannesburg.
3000 detained
Three thousand people have been detained under Egypt’s emergency regulations, the Interior Minister,. Hassan Abu Basha, says.
