Clyde dam
Sir.—The statement by the Labour M.P. for Dunedin Central. Mr Mac Donnell, that he would ask his caucus for permission not .to vote against Government legislation to continue with the Clyde high dam and the subsequent directive by the Otago Labour Regional Council that he must abide by the party's policy for a low dam makes a mockery of Labour's oft-repeated claim that it is democratic and believes in the right of the individual. Labour's other claim, that its main concern is for people and their jobs, is scarcely credible when viewed with its stance on the Clyde high dam which would put hundreds of workers out of a job. Mr Mac Donnell should stick to his guns and follow Mr Courtney's example if necessary. —’ Yours, etc.,
