Christchurch Airport

Sir,—To land at Christchurch Airport is a "fate worse than death,” according to Mr Muldoon. Hundreds of international airline passengers-siif-fered this fate yesterday (June 2) when their aircraft had to land at Christchurch. Mr Muldoon's “joke” is in the worst possible taste, especially as the said gentleman appropriated money which the Christchurch City Council had accumulated for its own airport, and lavishly handed it round to airports of lesser importance. Mr Muldoon can hardly expect the citizens of Christchurch to favour him with their vote when the time comes round as it surely will. That word he is so fond of using will eventually catch up with him. I refer to the word "attrition,” which

means "the gradual wearing down of someone to make way for somebody else." — Yours, etc..

HILARY ECCLES. June 1, 1982.
