Maori tour of Wales
Sir,—J. Smith. (May 28) claims to have "discussed" the Maori-Wales tour. "Discuss" means impartially, critically, to examine all points for. against, and neutral (and if applicable weigh up debits and credits). He implies that the Maoris are "racist." That is, only Maoris have a vote in New Zealand and only Maoris sit in Parliament. Only Maoris are eligible for selection and these rightfully represent the whole of New Zealand. As the Maoris are simply representing themselves Mr Smith exhibits racist tendencies in wrongfully accusing them.—Yours, etc., H. J. HART. June 1. 1982.
