Golf win to Wadkins
NZPA-Reuter Rancho la Costa, California Lanny Wadkins held on to win the Tournament of Golf Champions yesterday despite shooting a final round one-over-par 73. Wadkins finished with an eight-under-par 280 to win by three strokes and to earn $63,000.
“It was a lot tougher than it needed to be," said Wadkins, as he gained the margin over Andy Bean, -David Graham, of Australia, Ron Streck, and the Masters champion, Craig Stadler. Streck appeared to be tied, with Wadkins going to the final hole, but he bogeyed the tough eighteenth to drop one stroke back.
