Money for the unemployed
Sir,—Obviously Miss Hennessy (April 19) is one of the lucky people in New Zealand who have never known the feelings of being unemployed and can therefore afford to make one-eyed comments with no factual standing. Do not judge the unemployed until you have experienced the destroying of pride through being turned down repeatedly, the feeling of disillusionment at having never held a job since leaving school, and the puzzlement of not been able to secure a job even though you are highly qualified. To say the average New 1 . Zealander is afraid of hard work.is totally Judicious. The sooner people realise there is a. serious unemployment problem, the sooner something constructive will be done. The concert mentioned in her- letter was being, held to gain support for an unemploy- ’ ment collective, the . advantages of which are numerous and should have full moral support from every caring person—Yours, etc., (Miss) S. BUSH. April 19, 1982. ■■
