Church moves

Sir,—V. H. Anderson is right in referring to the A.R.C.I.C. statements on the Eucharist as “agreed.”, But “agreed” by whom? No statements have come regarding these “agreements” from the authoritative teaching Church. Their limitations are admitted. My own opinion (it is no more) is that their real value is minimal. It is news to me that Pope John Paul's Holy Thursday letter was “to reprove priests” — though many of us stand in need of reproof. Could V. H. Anderson tell us where he got this information? I do not know anyone who would regard Pope Leo XIII’s “Apostolicae Curae” (1896) as an infallible document. It is certainly of great authority arid binding and, I think, correct. For this and other reasons I think, with R. J. Bums, and equally sadly, that union between the Catholic and Anglican churches is far away indeed. However, we are guided by the Holy Spirit and he breathes where he wills. Let us never stop hoping, praying, and working.— Yours, etc., ' D. K. BONISCH. April 16, 1982. '
